The room at The Vintage Home before service

Home/Careers

Work here. Grow here.

Thirty-four people run this room. Nine of them started on a shift they had never done before.

Below: what is open right now, what it is like to work here, and the one form that puts your name in front of us.

Team 34 and hiring Training Paid, from day one Apply Form, email or WhatsApp

Working at The Vintage Home

A kitchen that teaches, not one that shouts.

We hire for attitude and train for skill. Most of our section leads walked in with no formal experience — what they had was the willingness to turn up early and learn a station properly.

Every role here is paid on time, on the 1st, with a written contract from the first day.

Paid training

Two weeks alongside a section lead before you run a station on your own — paid at full rate, not a trial wage.

Meals on shift

One full meal and unlimited tea or coffee on every shift you work, from the same board our guests order from.

Fair rota

Shifts published a week ahead. Two days off a week, and swaps agreed between the team, not imposed.

Room to move

Every opening is offered internally first. Nine of our current team changed roles inside the house.

Open roles

What we are hiring for right now.

Nothing here that fits you? Send an open application anyway — we keep every CV on file for six months and half our hires come from that pile.

Baker — night shift

Bakery · Full time 11 PM – 8 AM Apply

Running the overnight bake: doughs, proving, the 5:40 first bake and handing a full counter to the morning team. Two years' bakery experience preferred, but we will train the right person from scratch.

Commis chef — grill & fryer

Salt Kitchen · Full time Split shift Apply

Working the grill and fryer sections through service under the head chef. Fast hands, clean station, and the patience to cook the same burger properly four hundred times a week.

Barista

The Bar · Full or part time Afternoons & late Apply

Espresso, cold line, shakes and the late shift crowd. Latte art is welcome but not required — consistency and a friendly counter matter more.

Pastry assistant

Bakery · Full time 6 AM – 3 PM Apply

Laminating, filling, finishing and boxing celebration cakes. Steady hands and a neat eye. Ideal for someone who has baked at home and wants to do it properly.

Front counter & cashier

Front of house · Full time Two shifts Apply

Taking orders in person and on WhatsApp, running the till, and being the first face of the house. Comfortable Pashto, Urdu and basic English.

Delivery rider

Delivery · Full or part time Evenings & late Apply

Saidu Sharif and Mingora runs on your own bike, fuel paid weekly. Valid licence required. Helmet and insulated box provided by us.

Kitchen steward

Salt Kitchen · Full time Evening Apply

Wash-up, deep cleaning and closedown. It is hard work and it is respected work — our stewards eat, break and are paid on the same terms as the cooks.

Social media & content

Front of house · Part time 3 days a week Apply

Photographing the counter, writing captions worth reading, and helping the local businesses we support tell their own story. Portfolio matters more than a degree.

Send us your CV.

Fill this in, then send it whichever way suits you. Choose email if you want to attach your CV as a file — your mail app opens with everything already written, and you attach the document before pressing send.

Choose WhatsApp if it is easier to send a photo of your CV, or if you would rather just talk to someone first.

How hiring works

Four steps, and you hear back either way.

We answer every application, including the ones we turn down. It takes us longer, and it is the least an applicant deserves.

01

We read it

Within three working days. If your application is going no further, you get a message saying so, not silence.

02

A conversation

Twenty minutes at a table in the room, usually before opening. No panels, no puzzle questions.

03

A paid trial shift

Four hours on the section, paid at the full rate whatever we decide afterwards. You see the kitchen, we see you work.

04

Offer & contract

Written terms, start date, rota and rate — in your hand before your first shift, not after it.

Before you apply

Everything we hold ourselves to is published.

The contract you would sign is not the first time you see our rules. Our team policies — conduct, hygiene, the rota, uniform, equal opportunity, health and safety, pay and leave, and how to raise a grievance — are written out in full on their own page, alongside the policies our guests are owed.

One more pair of hands

If the room sounds like somewhere you would work well, tell us.

Open applications are read the same way as the advertised ones. Send a CV, a message, or just walk in before eleven in the morning and ask for the duty manager.
